SURA Market Day 2025 – Perth

Last Thursday, 16th October, we had the pleasure of hosting our much-anticipated Market Day at the stunning Frasers in Kings Park. With over 140 Perth-based brokers in attendance, the atmosphere was buzzing with energy, curiosity, and great conversation.

The event was designed as an interactive expo, giving brokers the chance to connect directly with our Agency Managers and Senior Underwriters. It was fantastic to see so many meaningful discussions taking place around products, underwriting strategies, and emerging trends in the insurance market. The enthusiasm and engagement from everyone made the day truly special.

A standout moment was hearing from our keynote speaker, ‘Mr Cricket’ himself, Mike Hussey. Mike took us through his favourite cricketing memory — the unforgettable ‘Amazing Adelaide’ Test match. His storytelling brought the day to life from both the Australian and English players perspectives, and the Q&A session that followed was full of insightful and interesting questions.

With an inspiring speaker, a beautiful venue, and a room full of passionate professionals, the Perth Market Day was a great success. It was a wonderful reminder of the power of bringing people together, and of SURA’s ongoing commitment to supporting the local insurance community.

We’re already looking forward to delivering more Market Days in 2026!

With over 20 years of experience in the strata insurance industry, Tena brings a deep understanding of customer needs, stakeholder collaboration, and strategic leadership. Starting her career in 2004, Tena’s worked across all major strata insurers, building a strong foundation in both customer service and sales.

In 2019, Tena joined AUB Group’s Longitude Insurance, where her leadership and results-driven approach led to a promotion to National Sales Manager within a year. In 2025, she took on a new challenge with Austagencies as National Distribution Manager, continuing to focus on growth, team development, and delivering tailored solutions to clients.

A firm believer in the principle that “the customer comes first,” Tena is known for prioritising client needs over products, fostering trust, and building long-term relationships. Her natural ability to connect across teams and functions has earned her recognition, including a nomination for the UW Agency BDM of the Year Excellence Award in 2023.

At the heart of her work is a commitment to collaboration, integrity, and service excellence—values that continue to shape their impact across the industry.

GARY SERIAN

Gary Serian is an experienced insurance professional with a proven track record in business development, strategic partnerships, and client relationship management. Prior his current role at Austagencies, he was the National Business Development Manager at Strata Unit Underwriters (SUU), where he has played a key role in driving growth and strengthening market presence over the past seven years. His earlier career at IAG honed his expertise in supplier management, performance analysis, and operational improvement, giving him a well-rounded perspective across the insurance value chain.

Gary is known for his authenticity, integrity, and results-driven approach, whilst bringing extensive industry knowledge and a genuine commitment to building strong, lasting relationships with clients, partners, and colleagues alike.
