Client
requirements

The Trinity Grammar Aquatic Centre and Centenary Building development comprised 5 levels inclusive of a basement pool plant room, main pool level, mezzanine level, ground floor, level one examination facility, and roof top services plant room.

The client requirements were to provide a state-of-the-art facility including an indoor 8 lane 50m pool with suspended slab over which forms a playing field. All works were to be undertaken in an operating school environment and Lipman was to ensure the School’s operations were to continue without interruption.

Highlights

Innovation &
approach

The original design of the ground floor slab included beams and columns at 5m spacing to achieve the 33m free span across the pool. By working closely with our Structural Engineer and P.T contractor we were able to achieve 10m spacings.

Cladding of the 800m2 Centenary Wall was originally documented to be in 50mm thick natural sandstone, this was changed to a patented tile system that achieved both a cost saving and a benefit on program.
