What is Film and Entertainment Insurance?

Film and Entertainment Insurance is designed to cover risks commonly encountered in the film and entertainment industry.

Cover can include equipment, sets, student projects, animation, rehearsal and recording studios, props, camera hire, reality television, blockbuster projects, music and signing teachers, liability and material damage for drones, events, bands, musicians, dancers, performers, comedians, and DJs.

  • Extra expense – Covers the Production Company for extra expense incurred due to interruption, postponement, or cancellation of a production directly and solely because of loss or damage to the contracted property/facilities
  • Public Liability – Provides cover for legal liability if you’re held responsible for bodily injury and/or property damage to a third party as a result of your work.
  • Film Producers Indemnity (cast insurance) – Reimburses the production company for cost incurred in completing principal photography because of death, injury or illness to scheduled artists.
  • Annual Insurance – Provides broad cover for Film and Entertainment activities for a 12 month period.
  • Money – Protects your business by providing cover for loss or damage to it whilst on your premises or in transit.
  • Equipment and office contents – Cover for the cost to repair or replace equipment if it is damaged, lost or stolen.
  • Props, sets and wardrobes – Covers physical loss or damage to scenery, costumes and theatrical property occurring during the period of insurance which is either owned or in the Production Company’s care, custody or control and are being used for the insured production.
  • Negative Film Risks / Content Media – Reimburses the Production Company for out-of-pocket expenses incurred in re-shooting an unacceptable portion due to damage to negative film, video tape, soundtracks, work prints and tapes.
  • Errors and Omissions Policy – Cover for Legal Liability, which may include defence costs, against claims relating to unauthorised use of titles, format, ideas, characters, plots, plagiarism, unfair competition, slander, defamation of character or invasion of privacy.
